If you haven’t read by now, D’Angelo, surprised the Bannaroo festival viewers last Sunday with his first show in 12 years. Irrational Monster is a huge proponent of mending bridges and picking up where you left off. If some of you are scratching your heads and are wondering when the last time you remember hearing from the R&B juggernaut, he unfortunately served a prison bid that displaced him from the headlines he garnered in the prime of his career.
We are glad he has returned triumphantly and in a big way sharing to the stage with amazing talent.
Billboard reports, D’Angelo played his first U.S. show in 12 years last night during a surprise set at Bonnaroo. He came out during the ?uestlove-helmed “Superjam,” where he was accompanied by members of the Roots, Parliament Funkadelic, and the Time. They covered songs by Led Zeppelin (“What Is and What Should Never Be”), Funkadelic (“Hit It and Quit It”), and Jimi Hendrix. (No D’Angelo songs were played during the set.) Below, watch his cover of “She Came In Through the Bathroom Window” by the Beatles.
