The latest King of the Dot battle co-hosted by DJ Skee and presented live on USTREAM was anything but advantageous for hip-hop veteran Canibus. Although his lyrical chops are still in tact he literally paused for long periods at a time, it appeared Canibus was a little rusty around the edges. Dizaster, long time veteran of KOTD battles, clearly slayed the veteran emcee to take the victory. However, freestyle battles are always up for interpretation. Loyalties to an emcee always way heavy on making a decision.

However, when an emcee clearly throws in the towel like Canibus did there is nothing left to interpretation anymore. Its a sad day when a vet rapper like him tarnishes his reputation in this arena. But, like he said he still is “technical.” But when you go on to say “Let me just spit my shit from the top, the way I was rehearsing it,” while reading of a legal pad of rhymes you obviously stumbled upon the wrong platform. King of the Dot, Canada’s premier hip hop battling league, emerged onto the scene in August of 2008 with a small following and big dreams, dreams that one day it would be the battle rap community for Toronto. It has quickly emerged to be the preeminent platform for free-style rappers.

King of the Dot began as a grassroots movement in the most literal sense. Built on the backs of the league organizers, the emcees, and the fans who continually offer their support, it has become an international battling community.
