Sailor Jerry, Tradition Never Dies

Good work ain’t cheap. Cheap work ain’t good.” Sailor Jerry (1911 – 1973 aka. Norman Keith Collins) was a very influential tattoo artist based in Honolulu with his tattoo shop, located right where sailors left for overseas. A Sailor Jerry tattoo was characterized by bold unwavering lines with a refined use of color and amazing detail. His one-of-a-kind work combined America design and traditions with Asiatic color and sensibilities and his visionary style is revered to this day. Artist and tattoo collectors alike can not deny the influence of a Sailor Jerry piece. He will remain one of the most influential icons on the scene forever.
